LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles County sheriff's department says The Game incited a telephone flash mob that overwhelmed the emergency phone system.

Capt. Mike Parker tells the Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/oGFHO1) that the rapper tweeted the number of the Compton station Friday and told his 580,000 followers that if they wanted an internship with him, they should call the number.

Sheriff's Lt. Suzan Young says "the phones started ringing like crazy" around 5:20 p.m. Parker says phone lines were jammed for more than two hours.

The rapper later posted that his account was hacked but also tweeted that it was "an accident."

The Game could face criminal charges. Parker says investigators are planning to forward a criminal complaint to the district attorney's office.

London riots: More than 1,000 arrested over disorder

This footage shows a police raid that took place in London on Friday
More than 1,000 arrests have been made and about 600 people charged over three days of rioting and looting in London.

Police said among those held was a man aged 19, in Haringey, east London, who posted a picture of himself on Twitter, posing with suspected stolen goods.

An increased police presence of 16,000 will remain on the streets throughout the weekend, the prime minister said.

The death toll from London's riots rose to two with the death of a 68-year-old man who was attacked in Ealing.

Richard Mannington Bowes, of Haven Green, Ealing, suffered head injuries and went into a coma when he was attacked on Monday night after remonstrating with some teenagers who were setting fire to two industrial bins on Spring Bridge Road.

Previously Trevor Ellis, 26, of Brixton Hill, was found shot in a car in Croydon. Police believe he was shot during a car chase on Monday night following an altercation with a group of people.

On Thursday, the Metropolitan Police said they had been granted about 100 warrants to search homes across London, and they will be executed over the coming days.

'Not enough police'
On Friday morning, a number of addresses were raided, while magistrates' courts sat through the night again to process those charged.

The Met said the 19-year-old man who posted a picture of himself with "a haul of suspected stolen goods" on the micro-blogging site Twitter was detained on suspicion of violent disorder and theft.

Among those charged was a 16-year-old girl accused of two counts of robbery, attempted robbery, possession of a knife, threatening violence and assault on police in Lewisham.
Boarded up shops in Ealing
Several shops in Ealing which were attacked have opened for business

A 15-year-old girl was also charged with attempted robbery and threatening violence over the same incident. The girls were identified by officers, the Met said.

Five males, including two 17-year-olds and one 18-year-old, who were arrested on suspicion of an arson attack on the Sony distribution centre in Solar Way, Enfield, on Monday night, have been bailed until September.

The Met's Deputy Assistant Commissioner Steve Kavanagh has admitted there were not enough police to deal with the three days of rioting.

But Sir Hugh Orde, the president of the Association of Chief Police Officers, said the police's decision to change their tactics helped control the disorder.

On Friday, London Mayor Boris Johnson said the police were doing a "fantastic job" and praised them for the important arrests they have made over the past few days.

He also praised the "heroism" of firefighters who battled the fires across the capital and described the action of rioters who stopped London Fire Brigade crews from reaching the burning buildings as "demented".

'The best commanders'
Acting Met Police Commissioner Tim Godwin praised his officers saying he had some of the "best commanders in the world" who showed "great courage as well as restraint" during the disturbances.

Trouble first flared on Saturday in Tottenham, north London, after a peaceful protest over the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Mark Duggan in a police operation on 4 August.

By Monday night the situation had worsened with disorder spreading to Hackney, Croydon, Clapham, Camden, Lewisham, Peckham, Newham, East Ham, Enfield, Woolwich, Ealing and Colliers Wood.

Officials from the Independent Police Complaints Commission were in Tottenham on Thursday to gather more information about Mr Duggan's shooting, a week on from his death.

His family will hold a wake for him later.

Germany marks 50 years since Berlin Wall

Germany is marking 50 years since the building of the Berlin Wall when the communist East closed its border, dividing the city for 28 years.

Berlin Mayor Klaus Wowereit told a ceremony on Bernauer Street: "The Wall is history but we must not forget it."

President Christian Wulff said Germany had been securely established as a reunified country.
The city observed a minute's silence at noon (10:00 GMT) in memory of those who died trying to escape.

Many still bear the psychological scars”
  -Stephen Evans BBC News, Berlin
Soldiers from the East began construction on the morning of 13 August 1961
  • Initially a barbed wire fence, it became a wall which spread for nearly 160km (100 miles)
  • More than 300 watchtowers were erected to spot escapees
  • Minefields were laid in some sectors
The BBC's Stephen Evans in Berlin says the East German authorities portrayed the Wall as a barrier to keep the fascist West out - what came to be known as the Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart.

But he says the accepted view now is that it was to keep East German potential migrants in.

'Saddest day'

Germany's leaders attended the Berlin Wall commemoration

Addressing the ceremony on Bernauer, a street famously divided by the Wall and now site of a memorial, Mayor Wowereit said the capital was remembering the "saddest day in its recent history".

"It is our common responsibility to keep alive the memories and pass them on to the next generation, to maintain freedom and democracy and to do everything so that such injustices may never happen again," he said.

Earlier, Mr Wulff told Die Welt newspaper that the modern Germany could take pride in "East Germans' irrepressible desire for freedom and West Germans' solidarity with them".

Chancellor Angela Merkel, who also attended the event, was herself raised in the East.

The number of people who died trying to cross the Wall is disputed - at least 136 are known to have been killed but victims' groups say the true number is more than 700.

  • BBC History explains why the Berlin Wall went up, and why it came down - in excerpts from BBC television documentaries
The first victim was thought to be Guenter Liftin on 24 August 1961 and the last Chris Gueffroy on 6 February 1989.

A list of names of the victims was read out overnight.

Although the Wall came down in 1989, it remains for some a symbol of continuing economic division between the richer west and poorer east.

Invisible barrier
Brigitta Heinrich, a schoolteacher by profession, grew up in Klein-Glienicke, which was unusual in that it was an East German enclave on the territory of West Berlin.

I cannot name a single West German with whom I socialise now - really, I can't”
-Brigitta Heinrich Fomer East German teacher

Speaking to Russian news agency Ria-Novosti, she said one of her own pupils had escaped across the Wall in the early days, using a ladder.

The schoolboy's parents were forced to move out of Klein-Glienicke as a result, and the mother was sacked from her job in a company, she said.

Recalling the hardships and broken illusions of the communist state, Ms Heinrich, who still lives in the East, also talked of the difficulty of readjusting to a unified country.

She said she had made friends with other Europeans such as Italians and Finns since the fall of the Wall but some West Germans, especially in regions further away from Berlin, seemed indifferent to people from the former East, as if an invisible barrier remained.

"I cannot name a single West German with whom I socialise now - really, I can't," she said.

Few parts of the Wall remain, though city authorities have laid down an 8km row of cobblestones to mark its path.

Tourists often struggle to find original sections.

'Jersey Shore' Stars Say 'GTL Was Hard' In Italy: 'Basic amenities that we are used to over here, like walking to the store and buying a Gatorade, you can't do that there,' Vinny tells MTV News.

Just because the stars of "Jersey Shore" didn't have any luck finding love in Italy doesn't mean they didn't have an unforgettable time.

"Italy was awesome," JWoww told MTV News. "We got to experience a different culture, different lifestyle and amazing architecture."

Of course, being overseas, the cast had to adapt to a new way of life, which proved to be difficult in some cases. "It was different than I thought," Pauly D said. "The normal stuff like GTL was hard to do, but we had a great time."

Vinny added: "Basic amenities that we are used to over here, like walking to the store and buying a Gatorade, you can't do that there. If you want to get a cappuccino and sit down for a four-course meal, you can do that."

Italy isn't just known for decadent meals; it's also known for wine — which Snooki became very accustomed to. "The wine was phenomenal there," Snooki said. "All we did was drink wine. The meatballs love the wine."
But they couldn't drink too much of it, since Florence's famous cobblestone streets proved to be a bit of challenge for the girls. "The wine, cobblestones and heels — not a good combination," Snooki said. "Meatballs rolling in Italy."

We all know when you go on vacation, you have to bring home a souvenir. So what did the Situation bring back from Florence?

"I was able to take home some of the language, which is important to me, 'cause my grandparents are from Italy and I am 100 percent Italiano," the Situation said. "It just so happens I have green eyes and a six-pack; I was born that way."

#MJ Tribute #Concert in the works: coming this October...

Aguilera to perform at Jackson tribute concert

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Christina Aguilera is lending her voice to a Michael Jackson tribute concert planned for October in Wales.

Organizers of "Michael Forever — The Tribute Concert" announced Thursday that Aguilera would be joined by members of the Jackson family, Cee Lo Green, Leona Lewis and the band Alien Ant Farm, which is known for its cover of Jackson's song "Smooth Criminal." (More artists to be added accordingly).

The announcement came after more than two weeks of silence about performers for the Oct. 8 show at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

While the event is endorsed by the singer's mother and some of his siblings, brothers Randy and Jermaine Jackson have protested its timing. The concert is scheduled during the trial of a doctor charged in Jackson's death.

The singer's estate is also not affiliated with the concert.

#New #Video: COMMON feat. NAS "Ghetto Dreams" #nowplaying

Back on the scene with a new recording home at Warner Brothers, a new album produced by No I.D. and an entire conservative party outraged at his poetry, Common has returned spitting some of his hardest rhymes in over a decade with his new single 'Ghetto Dreams.'

The Chicago MC kicks an ode to the hood over the No I.D. banger, replete with a scratched chorus and verse by Nas, who leaked the song on Twitter over the weekend.

"I decided to write about ghetto dreams just in a way that was raw," Common told MTV, of his inspiration for the song. "I almost approached it like I was a character because I don't smoke cigarettes and blah, blah, blah. But I still was talking abut those things 'cause it's like, if I step in the shoes of myself and my other friends and people that just dream about higher things coming from a tougher place. I told it in respect to the relationship I got with my lady, it's ill. It's not a love song or none of that; it's just raw. It's ill lyrics man, I'm telling you."

Calling on No I.D. -- the revered Chicago producer, who previously crafted Com's 1994 classic LP 'Resurrection' -- to produce the entirety of 'The Dreamer, The Believer,' was a long-overdue move for Common. While the music marks a return to form for the MC and his longtime collaborator, the artwork is a throwback as well, depicting a skinny young Common and Nas, in a photograph from a video shoot in the mid '90s.

"We was at a Fat Joe video, I think," Common said of the shot. "Two young MCs, young dudes, just real young cats, one from Chicago, one from Queens that just ended up reconnecting and connecting and always being cool. I ain't going to say 'reconnected,' 'cause every time me and Nas always would chop it up, I felt like we was two musicians that really just loved and respected each other, two voices that really mean something to the culture and respect the culture. So, we always had on a personal level just a respect for each other."

Common's highly anticipated ninth album 'The Dreamer, The Believer,' will be in stores this fall on Warner Bros. Records.

On Wednesday morning, fans were already tweeting about looking forward to the "Otis" premiere. "Just read that Spike Jonze is directing the video for Kanye West and Jay Z's new single 'Otis.' That should be something special," tweeted fan @. "The teaser to @ and Hov 'Otis' video looks crazy," added @.

"They got Riccardo Tisci from Givenchy to do the [album] cover art, you have the American flag on the 'Otis' cover art, and you see a little bit of that in the video," Markman said. "They're giving you clues along the way, but we're seeing 1/20th of the picture that we're probably going to get tomorrow."

Read how Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Otis" defied radio rules.

The release of WTT has been very exciting for the hip-hop world, and Yee recalled where she was Sunday evening in the hours leading up to the album's drop. "I was in my bed at, like, 11 o'clock on Twitter, and I think at 11:30 it was available on iTunes on Sunday night, and everybody just went crazy," Yee said. "Like the whole entire night, people were just staying up downloading the whole entire album."

Markman said Thursday night's "Otis" premiere will cause similar excitement. "It's going to be an event," he said. "The way everybody gathered around iTunes to get the album, everybody is going to gather around their TV or MTV.com and sit in for this event and watch the video."

Yee has already made her plans: "I will be in front of the TV to watch the premiere of 'Otis' on MTV."

Which TV actors make the most bank? TV Guide has just released its annual roundup.

Ashton Kutcher is the highest-paid actor on television with $700,000 an episode for "Two and a Half Men." But it's still a far cry from his predecessor Charlie Sheen's $1.2 million an episode.

Story: Ashton Kutcher holds first day bash for 'Men' gang
Tim Allen and Kiefer Sutherland (who return to TV in "Last Man Standing" and "The Confession," respectively) will each make $125,000 an episode, TV Guide reports. That's a major pay cut for Sutherland, who was making $400,000 an episode on 24, as the Huffington Post points out.

Cryer says Sheen's 'Men' death is funny
Over on the procedurals, Mariska Hargitay earns $350,000 per episode of "Law & Order: SVU." Ted Danson will bank $225,000 on "CSI" — less than Laurence Fishburne's $350,000, whom Danson replaced.

Story: Kiefer Sutherland and girlfriend of 3 years split
As for news, Scott Pelley will make less than $5 million a year as anchor of the "CBS Evening News," compared to Katie Couric's $15 million annual. Keith Olbermann gets $10 million a year and equity in Current TV. Anderson Cooper will make $11 million a year with his syndicated talk show and anchoring on CNN.

#Police capture 'Dougherty Gang' in #Colorado

From left to right: Ryan Edward Dougherty, Lee Grace Dougherty and Dylan Dougherty Stanley

Three siblings wanted for bank robbery and the attempted murder of a police officer have been arrested in Colorado, ending a nationwide manhunt.

State police said the two brothers and sister, dubbed the Dougherty Gang, were captured after a 100mph (160 km/h) car chase that ended with a crash.

Last week they allegedly shot at police in Florida and robbed a Georgia bank.

The three had been on the run for more than a week when they were spotted at a campsite in Colorado.

Lee Grace Dougherty, 29, her brother Ryan, 21, and half-brother Dylan Dougherty Stanley, 26, fired shots at Colorado authorities during the chase on Wednesday, state officials told CNN.

'Redneck and proud'
During the shootout that led to her arrest, Lee Grace was shot in the leg near the town of Walsenburg, in southern Colorado, authorities said.

"There's a time for all of us to die" Text reportedly sent by siblings to their mother

One of the brothers fled on foot but was captured at a nearby hotel, they said.

The Colorado State Patrol public affairs office tweeted: "Short pursuit with 3 sibling fugitives from Florida ends in crash, three in custody."

Trooper Richard Krantz said the trio, from Florida, had been arrested driving a car described a day earlier in a sighting of them outside a Colorado camping store.

They had been on the run since 2 August, when they fired at least 20 shots at a police officer who tried to pull them over for speeding in Florida, authorities say.

Several hours later, three people wearing masks and armed with an assault rifle and a pistol robbed a bank in Valdosta, Georgia, some 200 miles north.

The siblings' mother, Barbara Bell, had pleaded through the media over the past week for the trio to give themselves up.

"You've made some bad mistakes, but so far no-one has been physically harmed," she said.

"The only safe thing, the only right thing, the only good possible thing to do is for you to turn yourselves in."
She told ABC News on Tuesday that she hoped Dylan Stanley, the sibling with the shortest police record, would convince his brother and sister to surrender.

But while on the run the three had texted their mother, "there's a time for all of us to die", according to US media.

Ryan Dougherty has been arrested 14 times on felony charges and has also been accused of sending explicit text messages to an 11-year-old girl on the social networking website MySpace.

Lee Grace, who had been working part-time as a stripper in Florida, had previously been arrested five times for hit-and-run accidents and misdemeanours.

She had written about herself on her profile on photo sharing website Flickr.com: "I love to farm and shoot guys and wreck cars. I'm a redneck and proud of it".

GEORGE LOPEZ #TV talk #show Canceled; who's fault? CONAN or LENO

(editing by Bob Tourtellotte)

(Reuters) - Comedian George Lopez's late-night talk show has been canceled after only two seasons, cable channel TBS said on Wednesday.

The hour-long program, "Lopez Tonight" that first aired in 2009, will not be renewed for a third season, TBS said in a statement.

"TBS has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of Lopez Tonight. Thursday will be the final episode of the show," a statement said.

Californian-born Lopez, 50, whose Mexican ethnicity has shaped his comedy routines that examine race relations, had sought to reach a diverse audience with the late-night show.

It followed his sitcom, "George Lopez," which ran for five years until 2007 and broke new ground for Hispanics producing and starring in sitcoms.

...but there's an even bigger story here -- that Conan O'Brien is failing at the network.

It looks like Conan did to George what Jay Leno did to Conan.  You'll recall, when Jay Leno came back to NBC, his 10 PM show tanked and killed Conan's ratings

Well Lopez had the 11 PM time slot for its first season, but then when Conan came to TBS a year ago he took over the 11 PM slot and Lopez moved to midnight -- meaning George was relying on Conan to deliver a good lead-in.

But when the change was made, George's audience plummeted 40%.

On Monday, Conan pulled in an anemic 0.5 rating in the key demographic (18 - 49) with 715,000 viewers -- and that's a pretty typical day.  George's ratings hovered around 0.2, with 400,000 viewers.

Short story -- Nobody's watching
