Larry Flynt to The Situation: You're 'good enough' for Hustler clothes

Mel Evans / AP
Michael "The Situation" Sorrentino

Who knew that keeping the "Jersey Shore" cast well-dressed would become a matter of such contention?

Abercrombie & Fitch kicked off the discussion Tuesday when it announced it would pay the members of the MTV reality show not to wear its clothing. On Wednesday, Michael "The Situation" Sorrentino and Paul "Pauly D" DelVecchio fired back, with The Situation suggesting in a Tweet that the announcement caused the company's stock drop of nine percent: "Looks like Abercrombie got themself into a Situation!"

For the record, Abercrombie & Fitch's earnings report also came out on Wednesday, a more likely culprit for the drop.

Fortunately, someone has been willing to fight for the rights of the heavily tanned. Yesterday, Larry Flynt -- publisher of adult publication Hustler magazine -- released a statement saying they would happily "pay Mr. Sorrentino to wear their clothing so that he can stay well dressed," according to TMZ.

"The Sitch may not be good enough for Abercrombie & Fitch, but he's good enough for us," Flynt's statement continued.

No Tweet or comment yet from "The Sitch" or Pauly D, but it's probably only a matter of time.

And it's always nice to know who your friends are.

Late-night host David Letterman is the target of an online jihadist, according to the website SITE Intelligence Group.

Adam Raisman, an analyst at SITE, told EW.com that the threat was posted on a website called Shumukh-al-Islam, and is used by al-Qaida.

“It’s a clearing house for al-Qaida material, it gets the most al-Qaida supporters,” he told EW.

SITE told EW.com that the poster became upset at a joke on "Late Show With David Letterman."

According to NYDailyNews.com, the "Late Show" segment that upset the person who posted the message showed Letterman drawing his finger across his neck when talking about the death of senior al-Qaida member Ilyas Kashmiri.

Story: Andy Dick's antisemitic rant at Howard Stern
The message reportedly threatens Letterman's life, saying, "Is there not amongst you a Sayyid Nosair al-Masri (may Allah release him) to cut the tongue of this lowly Jew and shut it forever. Just as Sayyid (may Allah release him) did with the Jew Kahane."

Letterman is not Jewish.

Nosair was acquitted in a state trial of the murder of Meir Kahane, the founder of the Jewish Defense League,  in 1991. Nosair was later retried and convicted in federal court.

A spokesman for the FBI told the Associated Press that the agency is looking into the threats. "We take every potential threat seriously," he said.

CBS has not yet responded to a request for comment.

Abercrombie and Fitch Messes With The Situation, Which Messes With Their Stock

by Jason Kaufman in Jersey Shore

Mike 'The Situation' doing the Abercrombie Sidewalk Shuffle

On Tuesday, Abercrombie and Fitch offered "substantial payment" to MTV's "Jersey Shore" cast members, specifically Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, to refrain from wearing their product.

"We are deeply concerned that Mr. Sorrentino's association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image. We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans," an A&F spokesperson said in the statement.

Some thought brilliant publicity stunt, but the street didn't see any humor in this, um, situation.

Abercrombie and Fitch (ANF) posted one of Wednesday's biggest percentage decreases after trading stopped on the NYSE, falling nearly 8.7 percent to close at $64.87.

Our brothers and sisters at MTV Remote Control raise a good point that may give Abercrombie more reason to sweat. A good deal of the "Jersey Shore" fans are probably curled up at home in their A&F clothes watching The Situation's adventures each week. Does that mean they should stop buying the brand also?

Stacey Dash Fired from 'Single Ladies'

According to In Touch Weekly (the TV show, not the blog), actress Stacey Dash was fired from VH1′s popular scripted hit show, “Single Ladies.” According to Jawn Murray, a search has been underway for Dash’s replacement for weeks.

He tweeted that Dash clashed with co-star LisaRaye and other cast members of Single Ladies, which led to her dismissal from the show.

This is shocking news to “Single Ladies” diehard fans who tune into the hourly show each week to see Stacey’s adorable walk and what she’s wearing.

Murray tweeted that Inside Weekly is “recasting” for Stacey’s part. It seems strange that it would take so long to find her replacement. It’s also odd that Stacey tweeted this message to her 146,000 followers.

Dr. Phil to interview Casey Anthony's parents: 1st on-air chat with George and Cindy to air Sept. 12

Phelan M. Ebenhack  /  AP file
George and Cindy Anthony have stayed away from the public spotlight since their daughter Casey's acquittal on murder charges on July 7.

The parents of Casey Anthony, who was acquitted in July of charges that she killed her young daughter, will sit with Dr. Phil for their first interview since the trial, the program announced on Tuesday.
Anthony's trial in the death of her two-year-old daughter Caylee became a media sensation when it aired on television, and since it ended, the 25-year-old mother and her parents George and Cindy have stayed away from the public spotlight.

"I looked them straight in the eye and asked them some very tough questions," Dr. Phil McGraw said in a statement. The interview will air on September 12, when the program returns for a 10th season.

"Despite living under a 'media microscope' for years, their story has never really been told and there's so much more to it than we've heard in the media," McGraw said, adding that "nothing is off limits during this interview."

The case of Casey and Caylee Anthony took many twists and turns after the two-year-old's skeletal remains were found in a plastic bag near the Anthony's Florida home in December, 2008.

Casey Anthony never reported her daughter missing and, in fact, it was Cindy Anthony who first told police. Casey Anthony initially gave false statements about her and her daughter's whereabouts, and she eventually was charged for the murder.

The trial began in May 2011, and included the prosecution's contention that Casey Anthony wanted only to party and avoid parenting, so she researched the use of chloroform and used the chemical to put her daughter to sleep then suffocate her.

The defense claimed that Caylee had drowned in the family's pool and was found by George Anthony, who then covered up the death. The defense also claimed that George Anthony had sexually abused Casey since the time she was a young girl.

On the witness stand, George Anthony denied he had ever abused Casey, and Cindy Anthony claimed it was she, not Casey, who researched the use of chloroform.

Eventually, a jury found Casey not guilty of murder, but agreed with prosecutors that she had lied to police. Anthony is currently out of jail and in seclusion at an unknown location.

"We appreciate the way in which Dr. Phil has helped others, and we trust him enough to completely open our hearts in telling our story," George Anthony said in a statement.

By James Montgomery (@)

It's been more than five years since the Red Hot Chili Peppers released Stadium Arcadium, but later this month, they'll finally return with I'm With You, their hotly anticipated new album. And obviously, this is a fairly big deal.

Which is why it's only fitting that MTV is rolling out the red carpet for RHCP, with the exclusive premiere of their video for "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie," the first single off You. The clip will debut live on MTV and MTV2 on Wednesday, August 17, at 7:53 p.m. ET/PT.

Immediately following the debut of "Maggie," the band will sit down with MTV News for an in-depth interview, to stream live on MTV.com. Fans can submit their questions (and video questions) for Anthony, Flea, Josh and Chad via Twitter, using the hashtag #AskRHCP

"The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" recently rocketed to the top of Billboard's Alternative Radio chart, giving the band their 12th #1 on Modern Rock radio (which, just in case you're keeping score at home, is a record no one can even come close to matching). I'm With You, their 10th studio album (and first with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer), is due in stores on August 30.

Tune in for the premiere of "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" on Wednesday, August 17, at 7:53 p.m. ET/PT on MTV and MTV2. Pauly D wants love life guidance

(Dave Kotinsky / Getty Images)

It appears that Paul "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio can clean up for morning television. He certainly did an efficient job for his appearance on TODAY  -- you'd hardly know that he was the kind of guy who would wake up his roommates with a horn, or who will sit chained to a pole while Britney Spears grooves and grinds for him, or who gleefully asserts that his is the best body on "Jersey Shore."

It turns out that Pauly D can charm everybody, including Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford, who asked him about whether the "Shore" folks trashed their Florence, Italy digs ("Maybe. A little bit," he grinned sheepishly) and who couldn't resist touching his solid-looking, tall-standing hair. What's in it? "A lot of gel," he admitted. "I like to keep my hair on point, like my style."

He also touched briefly on appearing on Britney Spears' Femme Fatale tour, where he puts his DJ skills to work opening for both Spears and Nicki Minaj. But Pauly D really may have won over a lot of hearts -- well, at least the hearts that weren't too hardened by the "Shore" cast's GTL lifestyle and hot tub games -- when he admitted that he feels like the oft-derided Snooki has settled down.

"Snooki is a great girl, and she was looking for the right one," he told Hoda and Kathie Lee. "For a girl it looks bad when you're looking a lot. I told her, I want to screen these guys first. She's like a little sister to me now. I want to meet the guy first."

"Jersey Shore" has been bigger than ever this season, which has the cast making mayhem in Italy -- the season premiere's Aug. 11 ratings brought in more viewers than most other networks (8.8 million), and more than the Republican candidates' debate on Fox.

"The fact that people actually watch us, it's great," said Pauly D. "But it's a lot of people."

Still, not everything is coming up roses for Pauly D, who says he could use a little guidance in his own love life. He admitted he'd like to have someone out there vetting potential girls -- the way he would for Snooki's dates. "I need someone to approve of my girls, because I don't have anyone yet," he said, nodding at his hostesses. "All the good ones are taken."

#Celebrity Weddings & Babies from the Weekend

Steve and Joy
By
We know a few ladies who are going to have something to say about this!
Multitasker Joy Behar, who voices opinions on "The View" and has her own talk show on HLN, swapped vows Thursday night with her beau of only 29 years, Steve Janowitz, in a private ceremony in New York City, a rep for The View confirmed Friday to E! News. Talk about getting to know someone first...

MORE: Sherri Shepherd looks pretty ready to tie the knot

In 2009, she announced — on "The View," natch — tentative plans to tie the knot with Janowitz, her "spousal equivalent." But they called off the engagement later that year, with Behar blaming her own wedding jitters.
Well, we're just glad they didn't decide to call the whole thing off!

Unsurprisingly, however, no further details will be forthcoming until "The View" returns for its 15th season on Sept. 6, the show rep explained.

This is the second marriage for Behar, 68. She and ex-husband Joe Behar have a grown daughter together.

The longtime couple, who have been engaged since August 2006, made it official Friday evening on a boat in St. Barts, E! News has confirmed.

"Brooke and David did get married," her rep told E! News.

At the time of their engagement, Burke told E! News she considered Charvet to be her "best friend."

This is the second marriage for the 39-year-old "Dancing With the Stars" co-host (and former host of E!'s Wild On!), who was previously married to "Extreme Makeover" plastic surgeon Garth Fisher.

The newlyweds began dating in 2005, shortly after Burke's split from Fisher, and have two children together, daughter Heaven Rain, 4, and son Shaya Braven, 3.

Just two days after “The View” co-host Joy Behar tied the knot with her longtime love, another ‘View” co-host has taken the plunge!

The talk show personality and ”30 Rock” actress had eight bridesmaids, including her fellow “View” co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Niecy Nash and Yvette Nicole Brown (of “Community” fame), according to the mag, and was escorted down the aisle by her 6-year-old son, Jeffrey.

The bride, 44, kept her Twitter followers up to speed in the moments leading up to the ceremony, tweeting, “Sitting in the room in my gown waiting for Sal& groomsmen to take their pics… Can’t let him see me b4 the wedding… but I’m bored as heck."

"American Pie" actress Tara Reid is now a married woman! Reid married Michael Lillelund, a Danish businessman, in Greece on Saturday, E! News confirms.

Wait, you didn't know she was engaged? Neither did we!

Reid, 35, decided to break the news herself via her Twitter account, writing, "Just got married in greece I love being a wife."

The same night, Reid also broke the news that she was engaged. "I got engaged!," she tweeted, followed up by, "Greece married!" Short and sweet, just like their engagement.

The couple met in Saint-Tropez in November.

Reid was previously engaged to businessman (are you sensing a pattern here?) Michael Axtmann, but called it off in April 2010.

'Jersey Shore' Stars Say 'GTL Was Hard' In Italy: 'Basic amenities that we are used to over here, like walking to the store and buying a Gatorade, you can't do that there,' Vinny tells MTV News.

Just because the stars of "Jersey Shore" didn't have any luck finding love in Italy doesn't mean they didn't have an unforgettable time.

"Italy was awesome," JWoww told MTV News. "We got to experience a different culture, different lifestyle and amazing architecture."

Of course, being overseas, the cast had to adapt to a new way of life, which proved to be difficult in some cases. "It was different than I thought," Pauly D said. "The normal stuff like GTL was hard to do, but we had a great time."

Vinny added: "Basic amenities that we are used to over here, like walking to the store and buying a Gatorade, you can't do that there. If you want to get a cappuccino and sit down for a four-course meal, you can do that."

"Jersey Shore" stars Deena and Snooki

Italy isn't just known for decadent meals; it's also known for wine — which Snooki became very accustomed to. "The wine was phenomenal there," Snooki said. "All we did was drink wine. The meatballs love the wine."
But they couldn't drink too much of it, since Florence's famous cobblestone streets proved to be a bit of challenge for the girls. "The wine, cobblestones and heels — not a good combination," Snooki said. "Meatballs rolling in Italy."

We all know when you go on vacation, you have to bring home a souvenir. So what did the Situation bring back from Florence?

"I was able to take home some of the language, which is important to me, 'cause my grandparents are from Italy and I am 100 percent Italiano," the Situation said. "It just so happens I have green eyes and a six-pack; I was born that way."

@JayZ & @KanyeWest 'OTIS' #Video Premiere #TONIGHT 8:56 p.m. ET/PT on @MTV, @MTV2, mtvU, MTV.com, @BET

Now that fans have fully digested Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch the Throne, they can look forward to the duo's video for "Otis," which premieres Thursday at 8:56 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV.com and BET.

On Wednesday's "RapFix Live," Sway Calloway sat down with New York's Power 105.1 radio host Angela Yee and MTV News' Rob Markman to discuss the just-released teaser for the Spike Jonze-directed video.
"You can see Jay-Z looks excited, doing things I never seen him do before in that one second — and Kanye as well," Yee said of the brief clip. "Well, Kanye is always a little excited, but I think it's good to see the two of them together too."

Don't miss the premiere of Kanye West and Jay-Z's "Otis" video Thursday at 8:56 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV.com and BET!

The 15-second clip shows Jay-Z and Kanye West on set with pyrotechnics and not much else. Viewers see Jay gripping his red snapback cap low and then Kanye screaming with excitement while grabbing the camera with a huge American flag draped in the background. The flag is similar to the "Otis" single art by Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci.

On Wednesday morning, fans were already tweeting about looking forward to the "Otis" premiere. "Just read that Spike Jonze is directing the video for Kanye West and Jay Z's new single 'Otis.' That should be something special," tweeted fan @. "The teaser to @ and Hov 'Otis' video looks crazy," added @.

"They got Riccardo Tisci from Givenchy to do the [album] cover art, you have the American flag on the 'Otis' cover art, and you see a little bit of that in the video," Markman said. "They're giving you clues along the way, but we're seeing 1/20th of the picture that we're probably going to get tomorrow."

Read how Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Otis" defied radio rules.

The release of WTT has been very exciting for the hip-hop world, and Yee recalled where she was Sunday evening in the hours leading up to the album's drop. "I was in my bed at, like, 11 o'clock on Twitter, and I think at 11:30 it was available on iTunes on Sunday night, and everybody just went crazy," Yee said. "Like the whole entire night, people were just staying up downloading the whole entire album."

Markman said Thursday night's "Otis" premiere will cause similar excitement. "It's going to be an event," he said. "The way everybody gathered around iTunes to get the album, everybody is going to gather around their TV or MTV.com and sit in for this event and watch the video."

Yee has already made her plans: "I will be in front of the TV to watch the premiere of 'Otis' on MTV."

Which TV actors make the most bank? TV Guide has just released its annual roundup.

Ashton Kutcher is the highest-paid actor on television with $700,000 an episode for "Two and a Half Men." But it's still a far cry from his predecessor Charlie Sheen's $1.2 million an episode.

Story: Ashton Kutcher holds first day bash for 'Men' gang
Tim Allen and Kiefer Sutherland (who return to TV in "Last Man Standing" and "The Confession," respectively) will each make $125,000 an episode, TV Guide reports. That's a major pay cut for Sutherland, who was making $400,000 an episode on 24, as the Huffington Post points out.

Cryer says Sheen's 'Men' death is funny
Over on the procedurals, Mariska Hargitay earns $350,000 per episode of "Law & Order: SVU." Ted Danson will bank $225,000 on "CSI" — less than Laurence Fishburne's $350,000, whom Danson replaced.

As for news, Scott Pelley will make less than $5 million a year as anchor of the "CBS Evening News," compared to Katie Couric's $15 million annual. Keith Olbermann gets $10 million a year and equity in Current TV. Anderson Cooper will make $11 million a year with his syndicated talk show and anchoring on CNN.

(Reuters) - Comedian George Lopez's late-night talk show has been canceled after only two seasons, cable channel TBS said on Wednesday.

The hour-long program, "Lopez Tonight" that first aired in 2009, will not be renewed for a third season, TBS said in a statement.

"TBS has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of Lopez Tonight. Thursday will be the final episode of the show," a statement said.

Californian-born Lopez, 50, whose Mexican ethnicity has shaped his comedy routines that examine race relations, had sought to reach a diverse audience with the late-night show.

It followed his sitcom, "George Lopez," which ran for five years until 2007 and broke new ground for Hispanics producing and starring in sitcoms.

...but there's an even bigger story here -- that Conan O'Brien is failing at the network.

It looks like Conan did to George what Jay Leno did to Conan.  You'll recall, when Jay Leno came back to NBC, his 10 PM show tanked and killed Conan's ratings

Well Lopez had the 11 PM time slot for its first season, but then when Conan came to TBS a year ago he took over the 11 PM slot and Lopez moved to midnight -- meaning George was relying on Conan to deliver a good lead-in.

But when the change was made, George's audience plummeted 40%.

On Monday, Conan pulled in an anemic 0.5 rating in the key demographic (18 - 49) with 715,000 viewers -- and that's a pretty typical day.  George's ratings hovered around 0.2, with 400,000 viewers.

Short story -- Nobody's watching

'80s movie sequels we'd like to see: Are you ready for '36 Candles,' or 'Top Gun Soars Again'?

Universal Studios: Imagine "E.T." returning to Earth to save us all -- using Reese's Pieces as currency.

It wasn’t surprising to hear that Cameron Crowe was considering a sequel to the iconic 1989 release ‘Say Anything.” One thing 1980s films produced in abundance were sequels.

From “Raiders of the Lost Ark” to “Back to the Future” to “Beverly Hills Cop” to “The Naked Gun” to “Die Hard” to “Ghostbusters”… let’s just say studio execs weren't above wringing every coin they could out of a movie concept.

Story: 'Say Anything' could get a sequel

Crowe resisted that temptation, as did a few of his contemporaries. Here are some 1980s classics that might be prime for a reboot at the multiplex, and what those sequels would look like.

'36 Candles' The stars of "16 Candles" have a few more lights on their cake these days. This sequel imitates real life, which saw actor Michael Shoeffling go from playing Molly Ringwald's crush Jake Ryan to a career in the woodworking business. In “36 Candles,” we catch up with Sam Baker (still played by Ringwald) who followed Jake to Pennsylvania and started a family. It’s all peace and quiet … until her wacky family and former exchange student Long Duk Dong (Gedde Watanabe) arrive for a visit.

Story: 'Dirty Dancing' to get Hollywood remake

'Still Pretty in Pink' Let's return to the saga of Andie Walsh (Ringwald) and Blaine McDonough (Andrew McCarthy) of "Pretty in Pink" fame. Believe it or not, all you Team Andie and Duckie diehards, they’re still together, but he’s getting pressure to ditch her for a trophy wife and join the country club scene. And you won’t want to miss what happened to Duckie (Jon Cryer) and that hot girl from the Prom (Kristy Swanson). Let’s just say “reality TV superstars.”

'Some Kind of Real Life' In this sequel to "Some Kind of Wonderful," Keith Nelson (Eric Stoltz) and Watts (Mary Stuart Masterson) are struggling to remember those fairy-tale days of yore. They’re together on the wrong side of the tracks, but had to pawn her earrings to pay the rent. Now that Keith’s taken a job in the corporate world working for old crush Amanda Jones (Lea Thompson), can their marriage hold up under the strain?

Story: Bueller, Bueller? Where would Ferris be today?

'E.T. Saves Earth' There’s a YouTube trailer that envisions a sequel to “E.T.” as a horror film, where his countrymen attempt to conquer the Earth. But in our version, NASA and the Hershey Company put up big bucks to fund this more peaceful follow-up, in which the friendly alien returns to save Earth from environmental destruction by bringing in technology from other planets. When the planet is saved after Elliot travels to distant galaxies and trades Reese’s Pieces for futuristic gadgets, interest in space travel and peanut butter candies will both be rekindled.

Who should replace Swayze in 'Dancing' reboot?

'Top Gun Soars Again' Think of a middle-aged Tom Cruise, burned out by the dullness of the post-Cold War air campaigns, revived when Goose’s child wins a spot at the elite flight school. Can he recapture the swashbuckling persona of the 1980s fighter pilot? Or will the memory of that terrible decision he made over the skies of Afghanistan continue to haunt his dreams, and keep him on the ground?
